The Countdown Begins... The Ducal Detective is nearing publication!

I just checked on my Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing account, and I have 8 hours and 20 minutes to make changes to my book before it goes into lockdown mode and all those pre-orders get sent.

Talk about nerve wracking.

Have I gotten every little spelling error or grammatical error tidied up?  I've had three different people read through the book and edit, and yet, I still find myself tweaking things at the last minute.  It might be more due to the fact that I've begun book two, and true to form, I come up with new ideas that have to be incorporated into the first book for it to make sense.  How people write longwinded series, I don't know.  I'm always finding something to change, which becomes a domino effect for the previous work I've done.

In the past four days since I've uploaded my novella and queued it for pre-order, I've changed my manuscript file probably eight times.  And once it's available and people start coming back with edits, I'm going to have to keep changing it because I've read so many Amazon Kindle books where there are typos and I always think "Does this author even care?"  But editing is hard stuff!  I've read my Battleground Eden series multiple times over the years, and I still find little typos here and there.  It's incredible what even the trained eye catches.

But the clock is quickly ticking down, so now's the time to sit back and relax.  And hope. And pray.

Arms around,

S.B.
