Author Update - Entering Uncharted Waters

It is with the purest joy that I announce my partnership with Blue Ridge Literary Agency. They are on board to represent a new mystery series I've developed, and I'm excited to see where this journey takes me. It's so humbling to know all my idols experienced this same moment in their own writing careers.

So, what does this mean? Well, after the release of Throne of Threats on April 14, the Duchess is going to go on a bit of a holiday while I dive into this new series. While I can't share many details about the work itself at this point, here are a few things to know:

1. It's a cozy mystery - meaning it takes place in a small town, where the main character becomes tangled up in a mystery, even though she has no business investigating.

2. It's longer than my previously published works. The Ducal Detective Mysteries range from 30,000 to 50,000 words. This new book is 65,000 currently, and I haven't even done a full edit on it yet!

3. It's the first in a series. I've developed the main character and her community so that I can return to her again and again for fun and intrigue.

4. Getting an agent doesn't mean it will be published. This is just one stop on the road to publication. But both my agent and I have faith and believe in this character, so finger crossed, the world is ready to receive her with open arms.

5. It's a long process. Currently, I am editing and reformating my manuscript to agency/publisher standards so that it can be reviewed fully by my agent. Once she returns her comments, I'll go through another draft before putting together a pitch for publishers. Then the real fun begins...I learned recently that if I were to get signed on by a publisher, the book would not come out for at least another year! At least!

With all that said, I hope you'll stay tuned for my newest adventure. And never fear, Jax and her friends won't be on holiday for long...who knows what trouble she'll get into!

Arms around,

S.B.
